A few years back, I was at a networking event and business presentation at Baltimore's Tremont Grand on Charles Street. An account supervisor asked me what I did for a living.

"I'm a freelance copywriter."

"What's your specialty?"

"Copywriting," I replied.

I waited just a fraction of a second for the inevitable flash of 'What-kind-of-an-answer-is-that?' to cross her face. Then I explained.

"I'm a writer and a good one. I have decades of experience. I've worked with every type of company and organization you can imagine. I'm equally at home working in print, broadcast, multimedia, presentations, and web content. I'm comfortable with long and short form copy, formal and conversational. I write it all."

A few weeks later, she sent me a project. I've been working with her on a regular basis since.
